Our admissions process helps us best serve your family and our school's vision and community. Our school has a vision for developing Christian leaders who will influence the world through their Christian life. Please read these pages carefully to understand your part in the admission process.
1. Explore our website to learn more about Classical Christian education.
No other education system has the track record of success that classical Christian education does, but it makes you rethink what you know about education. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with this mode of education and reflect on how it could benefit your child(ren).
2. Complete an online application.
Click on Apply Now to access the application. The deadline for preferred student applications is April 15. However, we encourage applications on a space-available basis during the entire year. Please apply early as classes often fill quickly. Early applications will begin in November 2024.
3. Pay the Application fee.
You can pay the $40 application fee per student (non-refundable) electronically through the website or send or bring a check for $40 to the school office. 2124 Davis Road, Waynesboro VA, 22980.
When To Apply? Ideally the process begins in the fall of the academic year prior to the year your students hopes to attend. Application for the upcoming year are due by February 1 and parents will be notified via email of students acceptance before March 1. All paperwork, interviews, and testing must be completed by mid-February. If an applicant is found to be admissible but no space is available at that time, you have the option of remaining in a waiting pool to be considered should a spot become available.
4. Submit Documents.
Once the application is submitted, TCA will call to request your student’s:
Original Birth Certificate
Original Social Security Card
Custody Order (if applicable)
Records release form (grades 1 through 8) completed and signed by the parent, authorizing the current school to release the student’s academic records to TCA for review.
5. Read “Wisdom and Eloquence” by Robert LittleJohn and Charles Evans and “Lost Tools of Learning” by Dorothy Sayers.
The link to these readings can be found on the TCA website under the resources tab. Please be prepared to discuss these books during the parent interview along with your application questions.
6. Bring in your student for testing and interview.
Every new student is tested to determine their academic and behavioral preparation for Trinity Classical Academy. The testing process takes about 30-40 minutes and helps our teachers assess the likely success of a student in the grade for which he or she applied. No specific score is required. Rather, we judge the general preparation of the student in core subjects like math, reading, and writing. Students are assessed based upon:
Admission test results
Student attitude and behavior
For older students, their contribution to our school community
7. Come to a parent interview.
All parents or guardians are interviewed by an administrator at our school. This helps us to assess new applicants based on our school's mission and culture. Parents will need to have read the required reading prior to the scheduling of the interview. Families are assessed based upon:
Family support
A family faith that aligns with our statement of faith
A basic understanding of classical Christian education
Application documents turned in to the office
Acceptance and admittance. By April 25th, 2025 preferred applications will be assessed based on the family and student fit determined by The Trinity Classical Academy Applications committee. Applications received after April 25th will be considered at the committee's next meeting. Students will be accepted based on the information collected above. Acceptance means that we can best serve your family and there is a fit within our community. In full classes, students who are accepted are then wait-listed until we have room to admit them. A student is admitted only when we have a seat for them in a classroom. No further money is required until a student is admitted. Upon notification of acceptance into Trinity Classical Academy, parents will have 10 days to return the enrollment agreement and first half of tuition to guarantee a space for the upcoming school year. The second tuition payment is due by August 1.
A note on our waitlists: We do not assign a ranking to our waitlists until after April 25th. Once a list is ranked, students are generally admitted according to rank. However, several factors can result in the list being re-ordered. For example, the enrollment of current families with siblings in older grades, holding back a student into a grade, or the employment of a new teacher with a student in a full grade can result in the list being reordered.
